Engligh. The problem is whenever there's an accented french
character on a card (i.e. é,è, ', etc.), it's
replaced by an unrelated one. Is it because the system language is
set to English or is there something else I might be missing.
Thanks!

Didiertag:mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com,2010-10-19:Comment/68934522011-04-28T19:22:13Z2011-04-28T19:22:13ZFrench characters not showing up properly in cards

Hi Didier,
Some fonts don't support all characters. You might want to go into
the app Settings and set the font to Helvetica or another font.
properly, as if the underlying font code was not properly
interpreted by MC because on the PC, the csv produced by Excel
looks fine. It's when imported into MC that it gets
problematic.

Didiertag:mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com,2010-10-19:Comment/68934522011-04-28T19:51:57Z2011-04-28T19:51:58ZFrench characters not showing up properly in cards

I even tried to change the iPhone language to french but it
produce the exact same problem. So there seems to be a problem
between the source (csv) and MC.

Didiertag:mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com,2010-10-19:Comment/68934522011-04-28T19:57:59Z2011-04-28T19:57:59ZFrench characters not showing up properly in cards

Ah, excel. That is probably the problem.
If you open the CSV file in a text editor, you will probably
already see that the accents are missing. In other words, excel is
exporting the characters wrong.
You need to try to get excel to export Unicode. I think that is an
option. You might be able to do it easier with tab separated values
(TSV).
some people have success importing the excel into google docs and
exporting to CSV from there.
Kind regards,
Text (.txt) and then changed the extension for .tsv and
voilà! That made it. Thank you for your quick replies and
help! Much appreciated!

Btw, if I may suggest, it would be great if you could implement
some sort of collapsable structure for Cases in the Study section
so that we wouldn't have to scroll all the way through eventhough
we regrouped cards into Cases and sub-Cases. (sorry if my wording
isn't right).

Didiertag:mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com,2010-10-19:Comment/68934522011-04-29T08:47:04Z2011-04-29T08:47:04ZFrench characters not showing up properly in cards

Thanks for the feedback.
Then it should handle those characters.

I have excel, but i'm not using it to make my flash cards (?).
The French symbols works in excel, if that is of significance. I
only have this problem with mental case, and since i was planning
on using it to learn French its quite inconvenient.

I have the newest version of mental case and MAC OS 10.7.2

Thank you,
enter accented characters. Is that the problem?
We have a fix submitted to Apple. Should be out in a few days.
potential customers may be put off, I'd just like to say that I'm
entering Korean characters, so Mental Case 2 has no issues with
international characters as far as I'm concerned.

andytag:mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com,2010-10-19:Comment/68934522014-10-31T15:51:32Z2014-10-31T15:51:32ZFrench characters not showing up properly in cards

Thanks Andy. We did indeed fix this a few months ago.
