The idea is that it filters what is on the screen. When you select a group, it only shows the stacks directly in that group, it doesn't recurse into the subgroups. So when you filter, it only filters those same stacks.

But I hear you would like to see filter, and I assume also just the notes browser, showing all descendants of a group. We will think about this.

Thanks for the feedback!
Kind regards,
I hope you can make this change, because it is of limited usefulness to only search cards in a group that are not in any subgroups. If you were to reverse the method, and I found I wanted to isolate a search of cards within a group that are not in a subgroup, well, that is easily remedied by simply giving those cards a home in a subgroup. But to do a search for all cards in a group, including those is subgroups, is not easily remedied. Depending on how many subgroups you have, in can require many separate searches, with and then having to flag or tag all the results if you for some reason want to see them all together on the screen (less important for me, but perhaps for someone else). Currently when I am reviewing material I am studying and want to see if I've already covered it with previous cards, it not a simple task.

zeppotag:mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com,2010-10-19:Comment/444890182018-01-12T16:41:42Z2018-01-12T16:41:42Zfilter/search function will not include a group within a group

I think a half workaround is to search in All Notes. Believe that will search everything. You can’t limit to a group though, of course.
