mac app crash

Do not have the iOS app installed at this time, so not related to sync, which is not turned on. Report sent to Apple about 10:12am EST, per pop-up prompt. But I don't remember if I have the app set to send you reports automatically. No prompt was generated to send you one.

I have a large library with cards going back as far as 2012. The app must be babied to prevent more frequent crashes, so I do so. One of the things I do is try to make sure I finish studying all my due notes each day. To not do so, and leave unstudied notes for the next day is to ask for trouble. Recently I've been consumed with some things that have made me forget to finish my due notes. If I do this just one day, the app is less likely to give me trouble. Though sometimes it may respond with longer times scheduling notes, and sometimes for whatever reason, the app may be fine the next day, but for some reason has its problems a couple of days later. But usually, if I just forget to finish my due notes one day, the app will be okay.

However, in this case, I forgot to finish my due notes session Friday, and then on Saturday, I continued that session, and the followed up by beginning a new session of that day's due notes, which I complete in full on Saturday. However, on Sunday, I began the study session for due notes for Sunday, but closed it and forgot to go back and finish it that day. So on Monday, I finished the session of Sunday's notes, and then had only Monday's notes left due. But I forgot to even begin a study session for those due notes. So today, there was not going to be an option to continue yesterday's 82 due notes in its own session. The app normally has been taking about a minute and 15 seconds to complete scheduling. Every once in a while it may take three minutes. The app counts its way up to the final total with four different refreshes of higher numbers. This time it took a minute to give me the first count up from the previous days 82 due to 112 due, and another minute to the next refresh to show 152 due. Then it took another 6 minutes before the next refresh to show 190 due, and two minutes after that the app crashed before refreshing to show the fourth and final number due. When I reopened the app it took about a minute and a half to finally increase to the final number due, 209. About 40 seconds after that I got the pop up to send a crash report to Apple.

Now, this is without the added burden of the apple also trying to sync to the cloud. Any crashes like this or even really long times to complete scheduling is always bad news for cloud syncs, which is why I abandoned it. I'm using the mac app now because I have a backlog of edits I'd like to make to existing cards and it is much easier to do on the mac app. When I get caught up, I'll switch back to the iOS app by syncing to it, and then shutting down the sync again until the time comes I want to switch back to the mac.

Anyway, the app has always had a problem if I forget to finish all the due notes for a day. I realized this long, long ago that it didn't handle this well. But maybe there is some way it can be addressed. I also reiterate my request to have some indicator as to when the scheduling for that day has been completed. Maybe you can just and an orange dot somewhere that changes to green when that day's scheduling is complete. This will at least add some assistance to those with large libraries like myself.

    Hello,

thanks for such a long feedback!
One day we definitely will consider it. But trust me, from the data layer perspective this is not simple thing at all.

    Kind regards,
    Vlad

I can see that solving the problems that result from not studying all due notes for a day might not be easy. But are you saying it is not easy to add an indicator that the scheduling is complete? Since notes only schedule once each day, rather than all during the day as with some other flashcard apps, I should think this should be easily determined as to when the scheduling has completed. Adding the indicator should be a simple thing at that point.

Yes, an indicator should not be difficult, indeed. We will consider it. Thanks!
