Can't get "computer to computer" Wifi connection for iPad to receive from OS. Why can't I use charging cord to sync, as with uploading iPhoto from iPad into OS?

I tried the same network, tried creating one (and removing firewall) -- the iPad spins endlessly and says the usual stuff.

What now? I want to input on the MacAir, then be able to receive that data on the iPad. But it's not working.

I wish we could keep this info in an online server, as with Skritter (Japanese / Chinese Kanji study application).

    Hi There,

You can sync Mental Case for Mac OS X with an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad running Mental Case. The sync is not via USB, like iTunes, but goes over a Wi-Fi (Airport) network.

In order to sync, the Mac and iOS device must be on the same network, and same subnet. If you use a home network, usually this will be the case, but if you are in a cafe, school, college, or business environment, there is a good chance that the two will not be on the same subnet, and will not see each other as a result. In this situation, you could try to setup a computer-to-computer network to do the sync.
If you have a firewall, like Little Snitch, you will probably need to turn it off during syncing.

To sync with an iOS device over Wi-Fi:

    1. In Mental Case on the iOS device, go to the Sharing tab and choose Start Sync under the Sync with Mac section.
    2. Look in the source list on the left of the main window in Mental Case for Mac. There should be a Devices section. Select the device.
    3. Put a check next to any cases you wish to sync to the iOS device.
    4. If you want new notes from the iOS device copied to the Mac, check the Copy new notes and stacks to my Mac option.
    5. To have notes on your Mac deleted if they have been deleted on the iOS device, check the Delete notes and stacks that I deleted from my iOS device option.
    6. To have notes that were updated on your iOS device also updated on your Mac, check the Update notes that were edited on my iOS device option.
    7. Press Sync.
    8. You will get a warning dialog. Read it. Only press Continue if you realize that all data on your iOS will be removed and replaced.
    9. Wait for the sync to complete.
    10. Press OK when the sync completes.

To setup a computer-to-computer network for syncing:

    1. On your Mac, go to the Airport status item in the Menu bar on the right.
    2. Choose Create Network€.
    3. Enter a name for the network, and press Create.
    4. On your iOS device, go into the Settings app, and choose Wi-Fi. Select your new network from the list.
    5. Once connected, launch Mental Case on the iOS device, and continue the sync as above.

Thank you for choosing The Mental Faculty!

    Best,
