How do I delete "Lesson" and "Loose Notes"?
How do I delete these folders? I do not care how to spell Stephen

On the Mac, select the case and press backspace.
On iOS, swipe your finger right-to-left across the case.

The swipe L to R thing works with cases that I have added but does not work with Lesson and Loose Notes that came with the app

I can get that to work no problem with the cases that I have put in. A
little red box that says "delete" comes up and gives me the option of
deleting the case. That doesn't work with the Loose Notes and Lesson. I
have an iPhone 4.

You can't remove the lesson or loose notes, but you can make them empty. If you are syncing with the Mac, just set the learning schedule in the preferences to None.
