Dowload private flashcards from FlashcardExchange.com
I am unable to download my flashcards from FlashcardExchange.com. I purchased Mental Faculty for the iPhone. I have a free account at FlashcardExchange.com. When I go to the Exchange tab in Mental Faculty, select Account Settings, and sign-in to my account on FlashcardExchange.com, I get a message that only public flashcard can be downloaded. The flashcard sets I created are not public.
If I change my FlashcardExchange.com account to a paid account, will I be able to keep my cards private and download them to Mental Faculty for the iPhone?
FYI...I tried going to support at FlashcardExchange, and they were no help at all. After the second try, the person responding explained that he did not use Mental Faculty and knew little about it.

Hi Jann,
You can't download private sets, but you can make them public for a minute, download them, and then make them private again.
Hope that helps.
Kind regards,
Drew

Drew -
Your advice got me going (thank you!), but there are definite limitations. Here's what I did and what happened:
(1) I could not find a way to change a Flashcard set from private to public and vice versa.
(2) Instead, I had to create a new card set as a "public" set, then copy the cards from the private set to the public set.
(3) Then I was able to download the cards to Mental Case on the iPhone, and to study them.
BUT...
(4) Then I reversed the process, creating a new card set that was "private", and copying all cards from the public set to the private set. (I had done some editing in the process, so the old private set was out-of-date.)
(5) That went OK, so I deleted the public set.
(6) Now, when I open Mental Case on my iPhone, it simply shows me my cards and the answers. I have touched all corners of the screen, but cannot find any of the screens for Mental Case. I've closed the app, re-opened it...with no luck. I can't check an answer correct or incorrect, look at the Library, look for public card sets - none of that. I can only look at my own cards. What happened to the app?

Hi Jann,
You shouldn't need to duplicate cards to download them. There is a public setting in the card set info section.
I'm not sure exactly what you mean when you say you can't use MC. What exactly do you see? Can't you tap the Library button at the bottom?
Kind regards,
Drew

Making progress!
I took another look at FlashcardExchange.com, and finally figured out how to change public to private and vice versa in the card set info section. (The "edit properties" button is the key!). Thanks.
I also fiddled around again with the Mental Case app on the iPhone...and finally found the exact place to tap to get the app's tabs and buttons to appear. Have to tap EXACTLY in the middle of the screen.
So I'm off and running. Now I actually get to USE the app. Thanks again - Jann
