I have been a longtime mental case user and just switched to
studies. Can you please make sure to bring back the feature of
seeing total number of cards in each stack and case (as well as
grand total). This is important for me to ensure my large library
has properly synced.

This information is less prominent on studies for mac. This
information looks like it has disappeared from studies on ios.

Thanks!!!
know you can get the total number of notes in a stack when you open
it and scroll to the top, but this would be a pain to do for each
and every stack when trying to track down where a sync went
wrong.

zeppotag:mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com,2010-10-19:Comment/399073002016-05-18T19:21:12Z2016-05-18T19:21:12ZBring back note totals please!

Thanks for the feedback. We will consider it.

The reason for removing the totals was:

They slow the app down quite a bit.

They clutter up the interface quite a bit with relatively
unimportant info. Ie, you can still get the info if you need it,
but I think a lot of people probably don't want it there all the
time on all the stacks.

But we appreciate the feedback. We will think about whether to
bring it back, or perhaps offer something that addresses the
problem in some other way.

Kind regards,

At least a grand total on the ios app would be greatly
appreciated.

stack, and then drag down to reveal the filter bar, there should
also be a note count there.

Slightly
unfortunate but still good to know.

syncing my data on iOS with the desktop app. This information is
not relatively unimportant, as you state, but in fact is critical.
Now with the current design, in order to make sure a completed sync
is not flawed, you would have to go into each and every stack,
scroll to the top, note the totals at the top and sum them all up
to come up with the total number of notes in that app, and then do
the same for the other app, to make sure the totals match.

Also, I notice on the desktop Studies app (from where I had
loaded a stack to play around with prior to your iOS release) that
you have the total number of cards due printed to the right of both
"All Notes" and "Due for Study", whereas on the iOS app, the space
to the right of "All Notes " is blank. The desktop app is providing
duplicate information to the right of "All Notes". You could
instead put the total number of cards to the right of this, due or
not due, regardless of schedule, without causing any clutter
(although I never found this to be a problem in the least on Mental
Case 2).

Again, I consider this critical, regardless of how well you
think the apps sync now. That could easily change with a future
bug, not to mention just the problems that can come simply because
of some error with apple's iCloud or a bad connection, etc. For
now, I guess I will have to sync and go through this process to
make sure everything transferred and then use the desktop app to
combine everything into a minimal number of stacks, relying instead
on smart stacks and/or tags to organize. But I implore you to make
it a priority to add a grand total of due and undue notes to the
right of "All Notes".

zeppotag:mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com,2010-10-19:Comment/399073002016-05-20T15:27:57Z2016-05-20T15:27:57ZBring back note totals please!

I’m afraid I disagree, in the sense that you are only
using this to see if the sync is complete. That is not really a
good reason to have note totals, especially since they are quite
expensive to generate. It would be better if we had a way to
indicate that sync is done, or that you simply trusted the sync to
work.

There may well be good reasons to have the note total, but I am
not convinced that ‘tracking sync progress’ is really a
good one.

Yes, there is a little redundancy in the All Notes. We could
indeed put a total there. We might consider that. We would of
course have to change its appearance so that it wasn’t the
same as the due notes, because it would get confusing, but that
might be a good alternative. Putting counts on all stacks clutters
the UI too much for the benefit I think you get from it, and is
expensive to calculate.

I will look to add a total count on All Notes, which should
satisfy the sync need without too much clutter of expensive
calculation.
