Possibility of Manual Syncing
I have completely given up on syncing between mac and iPad through iCloud since it is not working no matter how I tried.
I investigated any possibility of manual syncing before abandoning Studies completely.
I tried to use the app called "Xilisoft iPad Magic Platinum" from mac and added data which was exported from mac.
Everything went smooth but when I open the Studies app from my iPad and I see no stacks.
Question: Is there a way to import data manually? If there is a way to do it, please share it with us. Thanks.

I still think you are much better with real sync. It tracks your history etc. With manual sync, you will get none of that.
You can export stacks as studies app archives. Those can be imported on iOS.
But there is not really an easy way to bring across your whole library.
What exactly is the problem with syncing? Did you try resetting the cloud data? Is your iCloud space full?
Kind regards,
Drew

BTW to import the studies app archive on the iPhone, put it in an app like Files or Dropbox. Select the file in that app, and choose "Open In" or "Export" and select Studies.

The problem is the sync starts and then a while it stops. Since all the data are image files, the total size is quite large, i.e., a couple of gigabytes. Could this be an issue? I think iCloud is almost full but still, there is a little space left. Yes, I tried resetting the cloud data several times but it was not successful. Also, it takes too much time in sync.
I remembered that there was an easy way to transfer data from mac to iPad for Mental Case. I am wondering if you can bring this functionality back to Studies. If you could do that, I would appreciate it very much. Thanks.

Hyo

Yes, several gigabytes will take a while. Only the first sync should really take a long time though. After that, the sync should become fast. So if you let the app upload the data for a while (eg an hour), it might work better.
Note that you can also turn off the sync for some stacks. Double click on a stack, and exclude it from the sync.
You might be able to copy the Mac data to the iOS device. You need to find the Library.studieslib on the Mac, and copy it to the right place on the iOS device to replace the one that is there.
To find it on the Mac, you can do this:
1. Click on Finder
2. Choose Go > Go to Folder
3. Enter the next line exactly (copy and paste is best):
~/Library/Containers/com.mentalfaculty.studies.mac/Data/Library/Application\ Support/Studies
4. Select Library.studieslib
5. Choose Edit > Copy
6. Paste it somewhere else and transfer to the iOS device. You must replace the Library.studieslib on the iOS device with this one.
Kind regards,
Drew

Step 6 is not clear! Could you please elaborate on how I can paste it to iOS device?
When I use Xilisoft iPad Magic Platinum, I don't see Library.studieslib on my iPad. I would appreciate it if you let me know how I can replace the file. Thanks.

I think it is best to first paste it on your Desktop on the Mac.
To install it on iOS, you need special tools. I thought I saw you had that in a screenshot? If not, you can try iExplorer. It will allow you to see the files on the iOS device and move the folder there.

Finally, I was able to get iExplorer and then copy Library.studieslib from Mac Finder. The problem is I can't paste Library.studieslib into iPad as you can see it from the inserted image. I can't even delete Library.studieslib on iPad either. Please advise me what to do. Thanks.

It looks like you are not actually looking at the iPad, but the backups of the iPad made by iTunes.
You need to connect your iPad with a USB cable, and then browse the actual files on the iPad.

Yes, I was able to get the real data now. From mac, Library.studieslib folder has a folder called "MediaData" which is about 2GB in size. The problem is if I replace the one in iPad with this one, then I get a spinning wheel cursor. Any recommendation on how to resolve this issue? Thanks.

Frankly, no. I don’t know anyone else who has ever done it. The app wasn’t designed to be used that way.
Maybe it is updating something and will eventually finish. You can wait and see.

it didn't work and I wasted $36 for iExplorer.
As I mentioned before, if you can revive the migration functionality built on the old Mental Case, then I don't need to look for anything to resolve the sync issue.
You should aware that iCloud sync is not a good choice if one has a few gigabytes of data.

If you put the data in the right place, it should work. The Mac and iOS devices use the same data.
What didn’t work exactly?
Manually copying data is also not a good way to “sync”. For a start, any changes you make don’t come across. You study history is also doesn’t sync, and that is one of the main points of the app.
Note that you can turn off sync for some stacks. If you only need to have some stacks on your iPhone, just turn off the sync for the other stacks. That should be much faster to sync.

I put the data in the right place but I get the spinning wheel cursor due
to 2GB data.
I waited for about 10 hours and it simply didn't work.
Please let me know how to turn off sync for some stacks! Maybe I can try
this.
If you can bring the old Mental Case technology back, then it would be
great since it only takes about a few minutes for sync.

The old Mental Case technology would not help. It enabled you to export your iOS library and then replace your current library with that. It didn’t allow moving data between devices.
To turn off sync for a stack, just edit the stack on the Mac. Ie double click the stack. There is an “include in sync” setting there.
I recommend having the sync turned off first, then changing that setting, and finally turning the sync back on.

I don’t know why transferring the data via iExplorer is not working, but it might be worth removing backups from the data before copying it over. There is a backups folder in the Mac data you are copying over. Remove that, and then copy it over.

I can't remove the backups. I can select the backups but pressing the delete key ends up doing nothing.
I always edit stacks from mac and I don't need to have data moving between devices.
Maybe I am not the one who has this issue. I would appreciate it if you consider reviving the old Mental Case technology back.
