I
have around 3200 notes, which I was studying quite regularly on the
"Long Term Study" schedule before the new iCloud sync
implementation was rolled out. I create them all on my Mac and then
studying them during walks, etc. on my phone. A usual study session
would involve five to ten rounds of 20 cards on my iPhone. The
scheduling feature seem to work as advertised, and it would
eventually, over a few months, move through my entire stack,
showing cards couldn't remember more frequently.

But since the rerelease of the app and the new iCloud sync
implementation, I've encountered a lot of problems, which I've
tolerated for months now, but have made it almost impossible to
keep using this app.

i. The app on my iPhone is almost never satisfied that it's
synced with iCloud. It will sync every chance it gets, even when I
haven't used the Mac version, or made any changes or studied any
cards whatsoever. When I have studied cards on my iPhone (with no
other changes to my stacks either on the phone or Mac), it often
takes hours to complete the sync, during which time I can't switch
between apps because this will cause the syncing feature to
"unexpectedly disable". So my phone is comatose for a couple of
hours (every day) while it syncs the fact that I studied 200 cards.
Is this normal behaviour?

ii. The other thing is, it no longer seems the "long term study"
schedule is working properly, as it has been showing me the same
set of cards for the past few weeks. I thought I wasn't studying
them enough, so I study them everyday now, but the app seems to
pick those same cards every day, leaving my 2800 other cards
unseen.

I've tried many things to address this (including everything in
the article on fixing the iCloud feature). In my case the iCloud
does actually sync the cards, but it just takes far far too long
for what one might reasonably expect. Most recently I've "reset the
study schedule" for all cards across all my stacks. It doesn't
appear to have made any difference, but I'm methodically keeping
checks on scheduling dates and so forth, which I'll repost about if
I see an improvement.

Could I please have your thoughts on these issues, and
suggestions how I might fix them if there's something on my end
that I can fix?

Thank you, Adam.

Adamtag:mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com,2010-10-19:Comment/345580722014-09-13T03:01:48Z2014-09-13T03:01:54ZiCloud sync takes hours every day

I've confirmed that it is in fact the iCloud syncing which is
resetting the study schedule of my cards.

Adamtag:mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com,2010-10-19:Comment/345580722014-09-13T04:25:30Z2014-09-13T04:25:30ZiCloud sync takes hours every day

Hi Adam,

Thank you for writing in. I'm very sorry to hear about this
issue. I've forwarded it to the team. We're working hard on getting
iCloud sync to function properly, as you have noticed it's hard to
get it to work for everyone. Please make sure you're up to date
with the latest versions of Mental Case, we're constantly releasing
updates with fixes.

Please accept our apologies for the frustration we caused. Thank
you for your patience and cooperation while we work on it

Best,
