Synced
fine with desktop.

But after adding a few small stacks on desktops, with just one
or two cards each in order to test out some different settings, the
phone app has crashed about 5 times now without syncing. Reports
were sent out.

What is in the bottom left corner of the app? It has a couple of
arrows forming a circle, so my assumption this will trigger a sync
if you tap it. If I do tap it, or on its own, it will turn into
what looks to be a progress bar. If this is this a progress bar for
the sync, then it is crashing prior to the progress completing. It
gets about 3/4 complete. After 3 crashes, I closed the app and shut
down and restarted the phone. Then tried again and it crashed. But
at this point an iOS update alert popped up, so I installed it.
Then I shut down and restarted the phone again for good measure.
But upon starting the app, yet again it crashed during what I guess
is the sync process, if my assumptions are correct about that lower
left corner. So now you have 5 reports. I guess I'll try again in
an hour.

zeppotag:mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com,2010-10-19:Comment/358947822015-01-28T02:24:07Z2015-01-28T02:24:07Zphone app crashing

just tried it again and it's still crashing. All I have to do is
open the app and wait. But I'll wait and see if it has anything to
do with everybody updating their phones' iOS today. Maybe that
increase iCloud traffic and it just can't keep a connection? Oh
well, I'll see what happens tomorrow.

zeppotag:mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com,2010-10-19:Comment/358947822015-01-28T04:52:53Z2015-01-28T04:52:53Zphone app crashing

Hi,

Thank you for writing in. The logo is indeed the sync bottom and
the status bar. Are the new stacks you've added smart stacks?

Best,

to three cards each using multiple choice, a reversible note, and
translation templates.

zeppotag:mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com,2010-10-19:Comment/358947822015-01-28T13:24:26Z2015-01-28T13:24:26Zphone app crashing

the phone app is still crashing. Two more reports sent. The
desktop has 100 due, the phone app 91.

This is what I was worried about. The sync finally worked, but
then once I added the wrinkle of creating new stacks, the sync
couldn't handle it and is fouled up again.

You say people want cloud sync rather than wifi because with
wifi they had to, for example, go through the steps of syncing
their iPhone to the deskstop and then sync their iPad to the
desktop, if they wanted to switch from phone to iPad. So it took
them a whole extra step of an additional sync that took under a
minute. Whoopie. That as compared to this??

zeppotag:mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com,2010-10-19:Comment/358947822015-01-29T01:23:21Z2015-01-29T01:23:21Zphone app crashing

As I said I created some new cases on the desktop and they
didn't sync over to the phone. Looking closer at it now, I see some
of the cards in this cases, though not all, wound up in the Loose
Notes location on the phone. A couple of those cards that have more
than three facets are missing facets past the third facet (i.e.,
facet four, five and six for instance). There are also a few other
previously established cards that got separated from their stacks
and wound up in loose notes, but these do show up in Loose Notes on
the desktop as well. Casualties of a prior sync I suppose that I
just didn't notice before. So my guess is, the sync somehow got
disrupted, possibly due to high traffic on the iCloud or whatever,
and now it can't cope with trying to pick back up the pieces.
Perhaps I need to shut down sync on the mac and phone, delete the
cloud, and then turn on the mac sync, and then the phone.

zeppotag:mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com,2010-10-19:Comment/358947822015-01-29T01:28:21Z2015-01-29T01:28:21Zphone app crashing

Well, so much for that option. It won't let me turn off the sync
on the phone. It did let me turn off the sync on the desktop
though. I guess I'll play with the phone a bit and see if anything
changes. If not, I'll delete the app, reinstall and then sync to
the cloud. If it works, I'll turn back on the desktop.

zeppotag:mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com,2010-10-19:Comment/358947822015-01-29T04:25:34Z2015-01-29T04:25:34Zphone app crashing

Deleted the app on OS and reinstalled. Reset cloud on both apps.
Waited 40 minutes. Reset again on both. Waited 15 minutes. Turn on
iMac sync, watched progress bar complete and then gave it another
10 minutes. Then turned on iPhone sync. Looks like it finally
worked. At least in the sense that content appears to match.
Progress bar still has a little more to go on phone.

Oddly, I do show one of the stacks that I created yesterday that
I had turned on scheduling as yet to show cards as due, however. I
should think they would be due today. It has a multiple choice
template.

zeppotag:mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com,2010-10-19:Comment/358947822015-01-29T04:35:14Z2015-01-29T04:35:14Zphone app crashing

Hi Zeppo,

We'll look into this issue! Thank you for taking the time to fix
it yourself and write your extensive feedback.

Best,

Sam R. — The Mental Faculty support

supporttag:mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com,2010-10-19:Comment/358947822015-01-29T17:44:02Z2015-01-29T17:44:02Zphone app crashing

Thanks. I am really hoping the cloud/sync problem was due to
everybody updating their iOS and Yosemite. I'll see how things
schedule tomorrow.

If all goes well, I have a lot of card edits I want to make via
the desktop. Editing is more of a pain on the iOS, so these edits
are backlog of changes and corrections I have gathered since I lost
my ability to sync the desktop to my iPod.

Any edits I make in a day I plan to do after I have studied all
due notes for that same day and synced the results, in hopes to
make it easier for the cloud sync. I will be editing text, changing
some cards to non-reversible (turning off "can be used as prompt"
on second facet), and creating a few new cards.

If that goes well, I will then begin creating new stacks on
iCram to be imported to the iPhone and then synced to the iMac.

zeppo
