More Advanced Study Options
Hi,
I just purchased Mental Case for iPhone and Mac; I've been using
Flashcard Deluxe before (great little app, but tedious to make huge
sets with pictures).
I think Mental Case has great potential: The user interface and
the synchronization are awesome! However, I am missing settings
such as
- Study Mode: Spaced Repetition, Leitner, Ordered, Random -
Subsettings Spaced Repetition: New Cards per "seating", "active
after X times right", "time interval after correct 1,2,3,4,5...
times" - Side to be shown first
I have noticed that I do very well with some settings, and terrible with others; I think everyone learns differently, and being able to customize the way my flashcards show, is very important to me.
Hope this will be included in the 2.0 update! Cheers!

Yes, all of those options are in version 2.0, but many of them are also already available.
> - Study Mode: Spaced Repetition, Leitner, Ordered, Random
The 'Lesson' is Spaced Repetition. It uses an algorithm similar to one of the early SuperMemo algorithms. See the Preferences for intervals.
Leitner is basically a poor man's spaced repetition. We are going to add it, but it has no real advantages over what we have.
Ordered is available when you choose 'View Notes in Case'.
Random is available by choosing 'View Notes in Case Shuffled'
> - Subsettings Spaced Repetition: New Cards per "seating", "active after X times right", "time interval after correct 1,2,3,4,5... times"
There is no setting for new cards per seating, but on the Mac you can just select a number of notes to study if that is what you want. In that way, you can restrict the size of the slideshow.
The other settings seem to be against the whole idea behind spaced repetition, which is that time intervals is determined to give optimal memory retention for the time spent studying. If the user is able to change these intervals, they are making it suboptimal.

Again, this is already there. You can 'View Notes in Case Reversed'. You need to make the notes or case 'reversible' for this to work.
Hope that helps.
Kind regards,
Drew
