No, there is no Wi-Fi syncing in the new app. That is one reason it is a separate app, and not an upgrade from the original app. We wanted to leave the option for people to use Wi-Fi sync if they wished.
There were just too many technical challenges to get both iCloud and Wi-Fi sync working in the new app in a reasonable time, so we decided not to include it.
